Coin comparator
« on: October 06, 2005, 03:48:17 am »
Hi,

I am building an MP3 jukebox in an arcade cabinet. I need to use a coin mech for different reasons.
Now I have a very unusual wish and that's that I want the coin acceptor to accept EURO's (that's no problem) but EG for parties I like to replace the EURO by a self made special plastic or metal jukebox-coin. So i'd like to telle the acceptor it should accept something different.
I read a little abou this and heasr about a coin 'comparator""  You put any kind of coin in it end then it will compare the inserted coin with the one you put in the acceptor.
Does this sound familiar to any of you, because I cant find any 'coin comparators' to buy on the internet.

Any advises for me?

Thanks,
Marcel

Thanks! That was exactly what I was looking for.

Still one question...

I'm going to use the mech for my PC Jukebox (www.thepcjukebox.com) That application needs a press on a keyboard key to add credits. I want to attach the coin mech to something that can simulate a key press after a coin is accepted. Can I do this with the I-pac or do I need something else?

Please help.

Thanks,
Marcel

That would work, but if you only intend to have the one keypress simulated, you may want to just hack a PC keyboard, and wire up the inputs for that particular key.  Would be much cheaper in the long run.
