What do I cover my CP with?
« on: October 04, 2005, 06:23:49 pm »
Guys...I know this topic has been done to death and yes, I've searched all over this forum for info.  Unfortunately, sometimes too much info is just as bad as no info at all because now that I'm aware of all the different options out there, I can't make up my mind on which way to go.

Basically, my cp design is 3/4" MDF and is modular, so I would love to have something that is easy to apply, will be durable, and of course, will look nice.

I know artwork is a luxury with modular designs, so i suppose that must be the least of my concerns (unless someone knows a way I can have it all!  :))

I was looking at mamemarquee's cp overlays and it seems like a nice way to go, but I'm thinking I will be adding modules here and there and to have to buy a cpo everytime I add one will get quite expensive.

I do have a friend that owns a print shop and is very good with art.  However, he's not entirely sure what to print on that would work on a control panel.

Anyways...I'd appreciate any opinions/info you can offer.  And if you need to know anything more about my design to offer an opinion, please let me know.

Thanks!

If your friend can print on adhesive vinyl and you can put a laminate on top you'll be golden.

Hi there,

I too have a modular panel and I use Happ's "pica" vinyl.  It is extremely sturdy and durable and doesn't look too bad either.  Not the most exciting stuff but it works well!

I didn't do modular panel but used laminate to cover my CP top.

It may not be as colorful as some of the artists around here have shown but it is certainly durable.
