I can't do it anymore.

I quit buying arcade pcb's and all arcade related items.

I will be satisfied with the so-so mame cab i made and enjoy the jamma cab i own.

I just don't have the time and effort to put into looking for items, restoring cabs and all the work that goes into it anymore. Is anybody out there satisfied with what they have and see no reason to continue spending cash on this type of stiff any more?

I gotta say I have enjoyed building my cab but it has been a bigger commitment than I first anticipated. It's not so much the cash outlay but the time invested.

I doubt when my project is finished it will be my last but I can appreciate what you are saying.

I'm not far off, tommy.  Much of my stuff is on its way out the door or under final steps to be sold off.  Just too much invested, not enough back, really.

I want to PLAY more than I want to RESTORE now.

Having a Gameroom full of games isnt for everyone.

A Mame Cabinet is great investment (Not necessarily legal) for those who dont want to just make an arcade controller and play it on pc.

These arcade games are meant for commercial use. They often dont have much replay value and there cost is huge.

I can see what your saying. Im new on this road.. so im not sick of it..... yet!

I would very much like an original cab for no other reason than because of the nostalgia and charm of something original.

But.....In the big scheme of things, a MAME cabinet really is better suited for most people who just want a large range of old style games to play.

Maybe some of you have me wrong.... if i  see something that i can not live without i will buy it no matter what based on heart.  I will not buy something just to buy it because someone else would at that price or waste time trying to fix up something i dont care about.  Simple.

See, I enjoy the restoration.  But lately, I am just worn out of it.  I'm also tired of people agreeing to buy things when I'm done, even settling on a price, only to have them bail when I'm nearing completion.

"What, $750?  You were serious?  I only want to pay $400."

"Uh, I put $550 in parts into it, nevermind the labor, based on the price we agreed to."

"Yeah, but it seems high.  $400 feels right to me."

I never buy stuff I don't care about. However, I have a whole room full of "treasures" that I care about quite a lot. ;)

Yeah, that was a redone Dynamo, stripped, painted, new vinyl sideart, monitor bezel, marquee, CP art.  New T molding, clean coin door and working mechs.  4/8 way 1 player stick, 8 way two player stick.  Fully working, capped monitor, Arcade VGA, Jpac, P850 with 12g HD, 256meg RAM, wireless nic and possibly wireless keyboard/mouse.  Help with install/config of MAME/chosen front end, ROMs when he acquired them, and any other emulators he wanted.

$850.

That, to me, is a steal.
