Bezels from mamemarquees - how in the hell do I mount?
« on: October 03, 2005, 02:25:47 pm »
Got my bezel from mame marquees.com  today. it looks great. however the sticky adhiesive side is on the back behind the printed surface. I have a sheet of toughened glass which I planned to put the bezel behind. How can I now do this? It seems the only option I have is to Peel and stick the bezel in front of the glass, but this means it will be prone to damage.
Another thing that irked me is that the white box area that represents the screen is not perferated, I will have to cut this myself, and I just know I am going to mess it up.

What methods are you (who bought from mamemarquees) using?

go buy 3M spray adhesive and spray the front of the paper.  There is different glues but there is one that is clear that makes it have the stickieness of a post-it note.  That will allow you to mount it to the back easily.

Just stick it between two pieces of glass. What's the problem?

Is this the stuff?

So if I buy this and spray onto the artwork surface of the bezel, I simply apply onto the glass?

You sure this will not leave blotchy marks or residue from the glue. I know it says clear, but the last thing I will want is any visable marks on the bezel.

Im bumping this one up because I aim to finish my cab this weekend.

I just need to know whether anyone has stuck the mamemarquees bezel on the front of their glass, and if so, has it stood the test of time/usability?

I have mine stuck to the front of the glass. Not had any problems. You will really need to go some, to damage it (how often do you touch the glass anyway) and it will stand up to any cleaning, rubbing, general knocks etc.

I got all my art done at mamemarquees and have been very impressed with it. Its very durable, and hasn't faded at all (one side of the cab is next to a back window in direct sunlight for about 5 hours a day).

I didn't touch it....honest!

If you are mounting it on top of a real piece of glass (not lucite/plexi/lexan/acrylic etc.) I would recommend applying it to the glass first, then use a razor blade to cut out and peel back the screen opening.  Otherwise, it will be difficult to keep straight as the vinyl stretches easily.
