Cab/glue question
« on: October 01, 2005, 11:33:03 am »

I'm reworking a Dynamo cab right now.  I just stripped off the vinyl.  The glue is still all on the cab.  The plan was to strip it off and then prime, but that is a weekend work in itself.  The glue is really even, though, and only has a bit of texture to it.  It's like a finish.  I'd rather just sand it smooth and then prime over the glue.

Is that viable, to sand the glue smooth and prime over it, rather than using a lacquer thinner to strip it off?

I would *think* so.  If the sanding doesn't remove it, it's stuck there  ;).

When I did countertops, we'd remove old laminate, sand it smooth (but sometimes leave part of the old glue), then lay new laminate over it.  Different glues I'm sure, but if it's stuck, it's stuck.

We used belt sanders btw.  Hand sanding would be different...

I have a random orbit sander, should do the job.
