Options for connecting a Betson trackball?
« on: September 29, 2005, 07:23:21 pm »
Howdy,

Quick question :

What are my options for connecting a Betson trackball to a PC? I found a great tutorial to hack a mouse for a Happ trackball, but only a circuit diagram that I can't understand for a Betson.

Thanks, soon I'll be able to play Centipede :)

Optipac.  They even show you how to wire up on the website.

Thank you,

Although I am inclined towards hacks and handy with the soldering iron - has anyone written a quick tut on hacking a mouse to connect to a Betson trackball? Or perhaps would like to write a quick tut on hacking a mouse to connect to a Betson trackball?

Or perhaps could help me decipher this schematic?

I'm assuming you have the arcade output with a molex 6 pin connector (betson has models with ps/2 output, which would just plug in like a normal mouse).

Don't worry about the schematic near the top of the page; that's the insides of the trackball.  It's fun to know if you're into the "why" in eletronics, but not really needed by people who just want things to work.  Go down to the part titled with "Molex Connector Wiring", and wire as noted.
