Advice on joysticks for 4-player CP

So, I'm looking to build my first Control Panel, and it's going to be a 4-player one.

I'm doing the same thing.  I've got two P360s for P1 and P2, but for P3 and P4 I've got a couple of Happ Universals from a CP I built a while back.  My control panel is modular, so I'm going to be buying a couple other joysticks, so need to get some other joysticks, so my choices aren't set in stone.

So, how wide are you making your CP?

Haven't decided on width yet.  I'm trying to really nail down what devices I want first.

Looks like we've made the right decision for players 1 and 2 joysticks.  From everything I've seen the 360s are high quality stuff that folks are real happy with.

I just can't believe how difficult it is to find an opinion on what's best to use for players 3 and 4.  I've looked all over and I constantly see references for what joysticks are better for fighters, but players 3 and 4 won't be for fighters--just for NBAJam/Simpsons/Sunset Fighters sort of stuff.

Anyone out there willing to share any insight on Super vs. Competition for players 3 and 4?

There are 900 threads on this board on Supers vs Comps and you won't find a general concensus opinion on the topic.

Damn, I only found 800 of them.  Where are those other 100?  ;)

But seriously... in all the threads I've seen, arguments are based on what's best for fighters vs. classics (I'm assuming they're referring to 4-ways when they mention classics), and that the Super is the more flexible solution since it can go either 4-way or 8-way.  None of these arguments applies for me though when it comes down to players 3 and 4.  I did think there'd be some chance for concensus opinion for players 3 and 4 joysticks since those would typically be used for the same style of game--Simpsons, X-Men, NBAJam, etc.

As an FYI to anyone else interested, SlikStik Quad goes for Competitions for all 4 joysticks, although they may have based their decision on price to some extent.

I'd still like to hear from anyone on their decisions/experiences for player 3 and 4 joysticks.

What handles are you going to use in your P360s?

I love the look of the SlikStik stainless steel handles, but those SlikStik lighted handles look pretty sweet, too.  Any suggestions?

I used to have competitions on players 2 and 3 of my 3 player CP, but I dumped them in favor of supers after trying out a friend's.   The main reason for switching them was Gauntlet: I found it very difficult to go in directions OTHER than the diagonals with the competitions.  Or any other game with an 8 way that required you to move straight up/down/left/right would give me problems.

The best thing to do would be to buy one of each (I believe the mounting is exactly the same?).  See which one you prefer and quit taking advice from people on this board.  :P

I'm going with 360's for players 1 & 2 and supers for players 3 & 4.

The main point of going with the comp over the super would be the diagonals for fighting games, but this is not really much of a concern for players 3 & 4, so I decided on the circular smoothness of the supers.

Now we're talkin' folks.  Thanks for all the advice.  I was wondering about the diagonals and the circular motion and how those affected play on games like Gauntlet.  Being a newbie and all, it's not easy deciphering everything I read on the boards, but I do get it now, and figured one of these had to be a more obvious choice for players 3 and 4.

You guys rule!!!  Supers it is!
