27" TV that is 25" wide or less...
« on: September 28, 2005, 09:05:31 am »
Does anyone know what company makes a 27" TV that is 25" wide or less?  My cab is about 25 1/8" wide on the inside, and I'm almost ready to put a screen in...I'd rather not have to decase it, and I would like to have a 27" screen...
I've checked a few websites, but when I get to the store, the specs end up being incorrect...
Any help will be greatly appreciated...

Bring a tape measure into the store, that's what I did.
I do...the problem isn't finding out what the size is...the problem is that websites give sizes, and when I get to the stores the sizes are different...

this was my situation also. the cabinet i got was exactly 25".  i gave up on this endeavor after a long time searching and finally settled for a 25" (sharp 25c340) just because i was getting restless.   hope you luck, but i really dont think you will find one that is exactly 25" across.

I also have a 25" Sharp that will be going into my cab...
Using S-Video I assume, how is your picture quality???

I'm not picky, but I was to re-assure myself that I didn't buy a dud.

OK, so I found a TV...27" tube, and only 25" across...there's one problem though...no S-video...
I can't win...I've been looking everywhere, and this cheap thing is the only thing I can find...
It's a Sylvania from Canadian Tire...
Anyway, the one thing I could do id plug in my old Act-Labs gun...it uses the video passthrough thing, and it covers S-video, to an RCA plug...I think I'll tryi it, and see if I can get it to work well...if not, I can always return the TV...

Sinner -- have you considered a 25" TV ?

Just a thought if you don't want to decase.

Cheers.

The problem with that, is that I have a Happ bezel that is made for a 27" tube, and I'd like to use it...I've decased a 15" monitor, for a bartop project I was working on...I suppose I could do the same with a 27" TV...
I still have all the metal brackets, from the original 27" arcade monitor...I wonder if I could use them...

personally, i'd rather get a 25" with s-vid then a 27" without...but i guess thats just personal preference.  tell me how your conversion turns out.

My cabinet has a 25" arcade monitor and it's more than big enough.  In fact, I think if it was any bigger (i.e. 27 +), I'd have to stand back too far.

Yeah, but I think there should be enough space between the screen and where people need to stand...
Can anyone that has de-cased a TV give me some pointers?
