Sony tv speaker replacement

im getting a sony tv not sure of the model but im getting it free and i know the sound cuts out every now and then.  i have a set of computer speakers that i want to use so how would i set them up?  could i just connect the speakers to the pc and turn the tv volume off?  thanks and sorry about the jumble of questions
