Just got back from Arcade Auction!

It was a blast. Honestly one of the best experiences of my life and Im 29 years old!

I didnt buy anything cause apparently I was too cheap.

Highlights of the auction.

"Toms" chip/vending machine working went for $10
Old working ice cold coca cola machines went for 60-75$
Neon bar lights 60-75$

Two old not working sega cocktail cabinets went for $30. I thought I had won one but things happen so fast.

I went looking for a sit down cabinet to mame for racing games.

Cruis'n usa cabinets got for 1100-1200$
San Fransisco rush sit down cabinets went for $1100

The was a severly damaged on that had the pedals broken off the seat was busted and it would not power on went for $425. I tried to win this one but someone wanted it worse than me.

The best part was you can play any of these games and there were alot of fun gun games there. Bring your own 100 foot extension cord though!

It was truely a marvelous experience even though I was there 5 hours and came home empty handed.
I'll bring more money next time.

If anyone is interested in how much a particular game went for I wrote almost all of them down on my handheld pc.

An to those of you worried that I was going to mame an outrun cabinet and hurt a classic. Those cabinets were so numerous it was not even funny.

honestly a San Fransciso rush sit down cabinet makes a much much nicer mame conversion anyway


Also....two other things I was kicking myself for not buying.
There was this stand on these fake ski looking things and hold onto the bars and you ski on this huge (must have been at least 45" screen) It went for $525. The screen itself was worth twice that!
Also again...two linked daytona usa cabinets (sit down style) went for $1200. Thats $600 each for a killer game linked! Would not want to mame that but it sure would be a fun cabinet to have. You might could put that one in a pizza hut somewhere and make your money back in a couple years.

sounds great!  I wonder if you could MAME on that huge screen  That would be something!

What other types of vending/soda machines did they have up for sale?  That would be a good addition to a MAME gameroom hehehe

The only other vending was the RC cola and Pepsi cola glass front style "refigerators"
Those went for about $100-$125 if they worked. If they would not come on they went for $25. Seems like the compressor is very expensive for those machines.

There was pool tables and air hockey tables as well as alot of crane machines there as well but I didnt see what those went for. I left after the sitdown arcade cabinets. Those went about in the middle of everything else. The cabinets on the last two isles were pretty rough and the games were mostly junk. If you hung around to the end of the auction (8:00-9:00PM?!) you could have gotten those items fairly cheap. I'd say less than $50.

I didnt get to see what the pinball machines went for. But there was about 30.

cool.. which auction company/location?  could you just dump your list from your pocket pc to a text file and paste it here (or was it just handwriting scrawl i.e. images)

I thought the same thing. It was handwritten chicken scratch and when I ran recognise on it It only got about two letters right. Im telling you they went fast. They were only at each machine maybe 2-3 minutes.
It was in Knoxville TN but I dont know what company was hosting/running it. There is another one in a couple months. I planning on being there!

If you were at the one in indy this past weekend. I was there too. The big shocker was the guy who was selling a mame cabinet. It was a converted dig-dug cabinet. Dang thing went for $1600. I was shocked. If I was up for selling illegal roms I think I could probably get $2000 for my cabinet. Also if you were at that one in indy, that was extremely small usually there is like 30% more stuff.

I'm located on the west coast.  Do these auctions typically cost any money to enter?

I've been to computer shows that charge you 5-7 bucks at the door..

The ones in Indy you just have to pay for parking at the fairgrounds. I'm pretty sure they all are free, they take a whopping 10% of your sale price when you consign something so I think they make plenty of money without needing to charge admission.

Has anyone had any luck with super auctions?  I was there about a year ago to an auction in Milwaukee and the selection was very disappointing, unless you wanted a Japanese table top slot machine, of which they had hundreds.  They advertised pool tables, air hockey, dartboards, etc. etc., and had none of this.  No vending equipment either.  An old Pepsi machine filled with a different beverage of choice would be ideal for the game room!

The superauctions.com in Dallas (like this past weekend) have been pretty good.  It was definitely an arcade buyers-market this time as they were going very cheap.  The pinball games are getting higher each time I go though.  

On an average auction, they usually have 8 dartboard systems, 12 pool tables, 40 slot machines, ~400+ arcade games in varying shape, 40 pinball games, 10 jukeboxes, 30 gumball machines, 5-6 sitdown racing cabinets.

It was an Auction Game Sales Auction they run throught the Southeastern US.
