Gun question
« on: September 23, 2005, 03:19:29 am »
My cab has smoked plexi over the screen area. Will this cause a problem with a light gun?
BTW - I am using a 22' computer monitor and looking at maybe getting a Act-Labs gun but not sure yet.
Any advise is appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve O.
Why is it when we talk to God we are praying, but when God talks to us we are put into the loony bin?

In theory it could work.  But you would really have to crank up your contrast.

I have a feeling that you wouldn't ever get really good results though.  Your blocking the light that it needs.  And if your monitor isn't very bright to begin with, they don't work unless your almost touching the screen.

i haven't yet bought my glass, and i was going to get tinted, but will my cabinet look great without tinted glass or should i just get slightly tinted gass?

My first cab had tinted lexan over the screen, and with a lightgun and it had about the same accuracy. Only thing is, I had a Virtual Gun which had horrible accuracy to begin with, so now that I think about it, this post is probably irrelevant anyway........

If you are planning the cab still and are going to have lightguns, don't get tinted glass!

I already have had enough people (at least 10) with strange problems because of tinted glass :) It will cause some performance loss, and although certain tinted glass, display, and gun combos may *work*, they will never work as well as without tinted glass.
