I won't drive around looking for a close parking spot, but when I do park in the back of the lot, often whoever I am with will complain that I didn't try hard enough for a closer spot.

When I'm in a car with a driver who is doing that parking lot thing I never bite my tongue.  I like to say things like, "It's amazing that people will go so far out of their way to get fat."

If it's someone I don't feel quite so comfortable with I'll always at least say, "You realize that it's going to at least another minute to drive around to look for a closer spot, but if you had simply taken that one we'd almost be in the store right now..."

There were 50,000-80,000 people trapped in N.O., I'm just supposed to accept Chad's glib remark that if they were just "motivated" enough, they could have all walked out? That neighboring towns would have just let them in? (even though bridges were later blocked anyhow)

I don't doubt some people said "because the gov't would save me", my point is, what does it have to do with the vast majority of people who stayed behind for economic reasons, or for health reasons, the elderly, sick, weak, or for simple lack of a place to go, or FEAR of leaving?

How is Chad NOT implying that those who stayed behind, did so because they were not "motivated"? That they somehow deserve less sympathy because Chad needs to define them as "less motivated"? It's an ignorant statement, devoid of the reality surrounding a lot of those who stayed.

Furthermore, in the parlance of Chad...how is that a "solution" to anything? To me, it's another one of Chad's bigoted underhanded remarks. (The kind he won't defend, nor explain, yet claim are "blunt" and "clear".)

Just so you know.  I never EVER take the extra time to read that stuff you put in tiny type.  I've got a 24" monitor and that is almost unreadable even squinting -- and I've got at least 20-15 vision.  I just don't understand the logic of typing it if you don't want others to read it.  I get using various devices for effect, and I'm cool with the strikethrough, or bold, underlining, italics, sticking a "p.s." at the end.  But that tiny font thing rubs me the wrong way.

Hold down the ctrl key and the scrollwheel zooms in and out.  In IE there's not much zoom in, but you can zoom out a long way -- god knows what good that does.  Firefox will let you zoom to the point that three or four words fills the entire screen.  It's kinda creepy, actually, seeing your words grow and come toward you menacingly.
