Hi all. Now that construction of the frame is almost complete, it's time to get started on the side panels. I don't want to begin until I have a real design in mind. Several buddies of mine have come to the rescue and are giving me a hand with their artistic ability. I can't thank them enough for helping me out. To that end, here is the first potential design mock up.
The two different images are just showing different base colors as an example. This mock up is on a Mortal Kombat cabinet, but pretty close to mine. The only real difference is that mine is a touch taller and not slanted from back to front. The marquee and control panel would follow this theme.
The pipes will be real with the rust and background all airbrushed on (that will be a new experience for me but I think I can do it). The water area with bubbles in the center will be real as will the water level gauge on the left side. To make the water more eye-catching, it will use blue UV luminescent dye coupled with some UV cold cathode lights. You can go
here to see how that looks. The fade in the background of the water will be painted if I can't get the same lighting effect for real. The logo for the cabinet would probably go in the water itself and be back lit. The water valves and gauges will be real if I can find em somewhere. The metal signs will be real as I can mill sheet metal pretty well at home. To put it all in perspective, the entire panel width (from frame to farthest point will probably be six inches). A lot of shading will be necessary to make it look deeper.
What are your thoughts on this? I think it's pretty wild and love the idea. I'm not that interested in a traditional cabinet to be honest. I want something different!

Thanks!
Mike
