Stargate Control Panel
« on: September 17, 2005, 10:43:33 pm »
I've got a chance to save one Defender and one Stargate cabinet from the local landfill.  They've been gutted, but I'm thinking about using the Stargate cabinet for a dedicated PC version of Stargate.  The control panel is missing from the cabinet -- it is a bolt on "bulge" in the cabinet.  Has anyone got some photos of a Stargate panel that I can use to fabricate a replacement (if I save these cabinets from the dump)?

Thanks!

I should be a little more specific -- I'm looking for photos of the cabinet part, not the overlay.

It looks like a metal panel.  I found some pics here

Looks like a straight forward sheet metal job.

Good luck

The panel is made from wood.  I did a project this spring and no one reproduces the CP.  If you do decide to fabricate from metal, you should consider selling blank CP's for William cabs.  No one makes these and there is a market...

Good Luck,

I seem to remember it being wood from when I played it in college.  If so, it shouldn't be too hard to make -- especially since a little woodfiller and sanding can round out the corners.  I'd just hate to see the cab end up in the dumpster!

I think you are going to need a router to make it correct.  If you are interested in a metal one with a few holes in it, let me know.  A little bondo and drilling might be a lot easier than reproducing one.
