12v dc or 24v dc, will not pull coil in
« on: September 17, 2005, 10:21:38 pm »
Guys,

I have tried to hack into my spare HD power supply, i want to use the 12 or 24vdc supply to pull the coil in on a relay, i will have 240v power supply through the relay which will start tv,sound, fluro when pc starts. I dosent frigging work, looks like there not enough juice to pull the contact in, it will hold it in once i help it. Anybody got any ideas, should i try to get some power from somewhere else.

Thanks Guys

craig

awsome tutorial, i thought the red wire was 12v and the yellow was 24v, you pic indicates the red as being 5v and the yellow 12v, it would be the same in OZ ?, maybe thats where im going wrong.

So there is no 24v dc power on a Hrad drive power cable ?

Thanks

sounds similar to what i did. what i did though is to use the power from my speaker powerpack to drive my relay. works well enough...
otherwise just get yourself a voltmeter. youll save a lot of trouble and youll need it again some day anyway.
