Don't know how to make a link for telnet so just cut and paste this into your web browser.

telnet://towel.blinkenlights.nl/

You can also get a link here.

I watched it with my son until the server severed its connection about halfway through the movie.  Does it have the whole movie, or just up to where it cut us off?

I don't know if the whole movie is there. I have not wathced the whole thing, (just about 5 minutes worth) and I don't guess you can fast forward the stream. As fast as it was moving, I'd say the whole thing is about 20-25 minutes in length.

it's only half the movie. I didn't keep track of the running time I'd say no more than 30 min.........

I didn't watch the whole thing, but at the rate that it was going I's say MC is right in that it probably plays in less than a half hour.
