PSX/PS2 analog stick pot resistance?

Tried searching, but all the PSX gamepad hack threads seem to focus on the digital aspects, and less on the analog.  I'm wondering if anyone knows the resistance of the pots used in a PSX dual shock pad's analog sticks?  Searching for the cheapest way possible to hook a Hang-On's analog controls (steering / accel / brake) up to a PC for MAME, and if a PSX pad could be hacked to standard 5k ohm pots, it could prove to be much cheaper than an A-Pac...
