How did you mount your CP ? Pix please !
« on: September 15, 2005, 04:29:28 am »
I've been looking at many people's projects but most of them don't show pictures on how they actualy hooked up their cp's to their cabs. I'm looking for some inspiration to replace my metal CP with a wooden (bigger) one and pics from others may bring me to some idea's.....thx.

Velcro....3 Inch Industribal Velcro along the top of the shelf on each side of the UAII base.  Matching velcro on the bottom of the CP.

4 parties later, many "passionate" adults as far as video games go and a few children literally hanging from the CP and the thing hasn't budged.....

Nope, not swappable.  One large 4 player unit.

Depending on the Velcro and storage of the swappable cps, would really dictate the longevity of the velcro.

I wouldn't recommend getting some of the cheapo velcro that you find in 1 inch strips but look for at leat 2-3" wide stuff.

Look at it this way, if it wears out, you can always replace it.

Although, if you're talking about just swapping out individual joys rather than a fully build CP, you might not find the solution very viable since there would be some cushion to the board in that scenario.

Mine are held on with panel clamps, same as many real arcade machines.

I used 3 l-brackets exactly like this pic.  I don't swap panels so that's not an issue for me.  Solid as a rock!   :)

I haven't reached this part of my cab's construction yet, but I'm making a UAII which will have a swappable CP.

only issue i had was i misplaced my keyboard drawer slides , without checking for clearance for the panel clamps. I put the drawer in about 1 inch too high. Dont Do That!

I had to use L brackets which i didnt really want to do, but as of now i only have one CP. so no real problem.

i like the velcro idea.

revision time if i ever get around to making another panel.

Mine rests on wooded batons/supports, and is then clamped into place (access from front door for this):

Despite the fact that my CP has a completely different shape from Minwah's, it still attaches to the cab in exactly the same way.
