CLRMAMEPRO destroyer of ROMs
« on: September 12, 2005, 11:51:49 pm »
OK So I extracted a DAT file from MAME0.78
Then I used ClrMAMEPro to rebuild the sets accordingly.
I set it so it wrote the new files in a new directory.

Well, now entire rom sets are missing, gone... and others just no long work. That SUCKS.

I have had the same problem trying to back down to older version of mame. I still haven't got a full set that way yet.

You must've done something wrong, surely.

Do you have the backup folder enabled?  I've never had ClrMAME just delete stuff...

Sorry for the bad luck :(

Check the backup folder anyway, just in case...

When you run rebuilder there will be an option to remove files from the source folder or not, and whether to remove them if they exist in a defined rom folder I think.

To rebuild, get a dat from the version of mame you had before, add the mame 0.78 roms folder you just made as a source, and then you can run a missing file fix using the clrmamepro backup folder. All the roms that were not in 0.78 will either still be in your original folder or in the clrmamepro backup folder. (unless you completely disabled backups - unlikely)

I redid it again, using different options. I don't remember what I did wrong the first time, but this second time I made sure to check on all "FIX" options.

Everything is A-OK cool now!

Though I am still confused why my Kangaroo set no longer works. Says it's missing 2 bins, yet I remember playing the game a couple months ago.

Roms renamed? or were you using a different MAME version?

If RayB's description is correct and it's complaing about .bin's then aren't we talking about the clone "kangaroa", not "kangaroo" as it is the only one with files named bin?

Oh .. HEE hEE.
I have 3 zips but only one of the sub sets is marked as working. I guess clrmpro didn't "fix" it...
