PCI video card with S video out
« on: September 12, 2005, 10:16:00 am »
The computer I have to use for my cabinet is an HP.  It's a good system, but it doesn't have S-video out on the built in video card...and it only has PCI expansion slots.  So I'll need to find an S-video PCI card...anyone know of a good one to get for mame?

Also, I'm sure this has been brought up many times, but any run of the mill video card will be more than enough for any mame game, correct?

something like this  Would work.

And yes, MAME doesn't require anything huge in the way of video card power.

The MX4000's work fine for the purpose and I agree 64mb is plenty strong enough for MAME.

I have a radion 64 meg pci in one of my cabs.
HP PC windows ME hated the card. PC would not shut down with it in there,
XP solved all my problems.

If you are using the S-Video then you want quality TV out.  Which means you probably want ATI--a card preferably made by ATI (not "powered by ATI").

Find an ATI Radeon 8500 or, even better, an old 8xxx series All In Wonder card with at least 32 MB.
