That's a really nice idea (and I love that clock!).

One of my friends when I was v. young had one of those plastic 'stick the bits together, drop marbles at the top and watch them go' sets (I have no idea what they're called) and I used to love that.

You were probably thinking that, but the contact could just be the two metal guiding rails wired up to a switch - so when the ball touches them, it completes the circuit.  You would have to electrically isolate the final piece acting as a switch from the rest of the rail somehow.

If you do anything, be sure to update this thread so I'll get notified (I don't browse the boards that often).

The game was called Marble Madness I beleive (yes, like the arcade) those were a ton of fun until you accidentally picked up a marble not meant for the game and it got stuck somewhere ;).  Either way they were a lot of fun 'back in the day'

The only problem with this idea is when you want to continue.

It better not be a very long maze it is falling through, or you may find yourself starting over an aweful lot of times. :)

Other than that, it sounds like a pretty neat idea.

when you are about to lose your last life push the button for another ball to drop, so you get the credit before its time to continue :P

Ah - I'll have to research that, thanks.

That's right - it's all coming back to me now :).

Wow, I used to have that!! Or maybe it was my sister or one of my friends, but I am pretty sure I owned it myself.

Looks like the same thing, but we had "Marbleworks" growing up.  It was a blast pick your marble and then race them down the track which you spent all day building.

ThinkGeek sells Marble Roller Coaster construction kits.  get more kits, stick em together, make giant marble rollercoasters.

Bitten by the cabinet bug... obsessing ever since.

I still have my BanDai SpaceWarp that I got in the 80's.

Sometime around 1972, I had a set that was sort of an ancester of the current MarbleRun sets.  It consisted of pieces that were molded from translucent plastic.  The colors were blue, yellow, green, and red.  It had cubes with 9o degre elbow in them.  Some flatter square connecting pieces, and ramps.  I cannot remember who made it, or what it was called.

Real Life.  Still a poor substitute for video games!

I just found a vide of the Marble Roller Coastser.

http://www.zippyvideos.com/42094702945595/marble_run/

The shots are very tight, but you can see that is the same set.
