miini-PAC and Millipede trackball
« on: September 09, 2005, 03:12:48 pm »
Has anyone here hooked up an original Millipede trackball using the mini-PAC(to play Millipede)?

I'm having a difficult time finding info in how well this would work, and what specific harness I'll need, providing I don't have to make my own.

I also have an original Missile Command trackball and was wondering if anyone knew if the optics are the same as that of the Millipede trackball.

Thanks.

Darren

No really sure but...I read somewhere that you will need to use the USB cable to have the trackball/spinners work.  If you only have the ps2 connectors, don't think it'll work.

I think the procedure should be the same for the missile command full size.  If they have the same pin out, then they are functionally the same optical boards...

Even if this is not the case, here is a thread from a few years ago where Oscar and I figured out how to marry a giant Missile Command ball to an Opti-Pac.  Hope it helps...

Looks like the same pinout to me.  Try what is in that other thread.  I don't have a mini-pac, so I don't know if there is a Hi/Lo jumper, but the u/d and l/r should be the same.

I wish I knew how to crop those images in MsPaint *before* I post them.

Open the image in paint.
Select and Copy just the part you want to see.
Go to the Image menu and choose Attributes.
Set the image to a resolution of 1 x 1.
Paste the selection back in, and the image will stretch to accomodate it.

I had another customer who was able to send some pictures with the board uncovered.
I am pretty sure these are the connections:

pins 4 and 8 are X1 and X2

Pin 10 ground

Pin 9 is 5 volts
