Coin Door Lighting Question
« on: September 08, 2005, 04:47:36 pm »
OK - I got a coin door and mechs that are in great condition (thanks matt!).  One of the lights is burnt out and the other works.

I took it out and it said 6.3 volts (6 point something anyway).  I did find an exact size and style that match at my local hardware store but they are 12V.  Since it is a Mame cab with a PC getting 5V or 12V is simple.  So I figure I can use the 12V bulbs, but I am worried about heat from the bulbs on the coin reject plastic.

Anyone use 12V bulbs in their coin door?

Thanks

Franco

I bought a few of those 12v 6-bulb LED's from superbrightleds.com... they had a review on retroblast of them not too long ago..

They will match the colors of my buttons.. IE one player red, one blue, etc..

As long as they don't get too hot, the 12 volt bulbs should be fine.

I tried using LEDs but didn't like the look.
The door didn't glow like using incandescent bulbs.
