Adding new rule:  You cannot pick the same team two weeks in a row.

As I said before, I know nothing about football. Never one to let knowing nothing stop me, I'd be happy to randomly pick a team if I knew who was playing. Sadly, I'm too lazy to search up a schedule, so I'm just going to go with the opposite of what Chad chooses. So I'll go with the Raiders. ;D

So, logically, one of us will be eliminated this week.

The Patriots are two time defending NFL Champions.  The Raiders were 5-11 last year.

I want to make sure I understand the rules.  This week I picked St. Louis over San Francisco.  Assuming I'm right, the next week I cannot choose St. Louis OR San Francisco to either win or lose, is that right?

Hrm... that's a good point.  It's not clear.

Let's make it so that you cannot involve a team in any way in two consecutive weeks.  That is, you cannot involve a team in any capacity for two weeks in a row.

You should set this up through yahoo http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/pickem.  I would imagine that it would make the logistics of this a lot easier and would save a lot of time and head ache.  Just a suggestion.

Fair enough.  I figured 2 minutes of set up time would be worth saving you the hassle of watching this thread and updating it for 17 (most likely fewer as people will dwindle down) weeks.  To me my time would be too valuable to waste with the logistics when there is a free system in place.  Carry on.  ;)

The homer in me likes that pick, but seeing them all year makes it a toss-up for me.

I'm going with STL beating the pants off SanFran.  No pants on  a tight end, Stingray's gonna get interested in foos-ball pretty quickly ;) ;)

The best way to do this is to only be able to pick a certain team once throughout the entire season.   If you pick the Colts in week one, you can't pick the Colts again all season.  It makes it a lot more challenging instead of just filp-flopping between two good teams every other week.  Atleast this is how every NFL survivor pool I have been in has worked.

Best for you, not best for me who would have to verify every contestant's pick against their previous picks over the entire season.

This isn't every other NFL survivor pool you have been in.

After the games have happened, I will post the names of eliminated members.  Those who have not been eliminated will then be able to delcare their new picks.

Some of these guys don't watch football and their picks are basically guesses.  They won't have to verify the results, I will do that.  This is also the reason I have made the game slightly easier than usual, so anyone can participate.

The only problem I see in your strategy Stingray is if you win then who you are you going against next week?

Bad enough the Packers dropped a deuce in Detroit, but now this too?

Dude, this is a tough year to pick.  Falcons, Eagles, Patriots all 1-1?  Green Bay, San Diego, Oakland, Minnesota all 0-2?

Tampa and Cincinnati 2-0?

Gotta say, as a lifelong Bucs fan, the Bucs look way better than anticipated.  They kicked the crap out of the Bills yesterday and beat a Vikings team, in Minnesoata, that everyone expected to be a force.  Cadillac Williams is going to be a star, Michael Clayton is even better than his spectacular rookie year, and Griese is playing as well as any QB in the league right now.  The D is always great so long as we still have Derrick Brooks, Ronde Barber, Simeon Rice, and Monte Kiffin.  I'm stoked, I had expected them to be a 7-9 team at best this year and so far they look far better than that.

Yeah, this week is their measuring stick for 2005.  If they are going to be able to stop that inside run they need to prove it against Pittsburgh.  Wilfork did a great job against the Raiders closing off the inside but the Panthers were able to get through.  I'm hoping that Roethleswhatever is more hurt than they say he is... he and Ward put on a show in week 2.

I dont think New England is anywhere near as good as they were last year.  I think losing that offence of cord. really hurt them.  They look stale to me on offence.

Im taking my chances besides I hate New England.

It certainly does look like Weis' loss is a problem.  Losing Bruschi and Johnson has been an issue for them too.  With those guys in there, Davis does not score 3 TDs.

At this rate, it'll be settled by midseason.  Should we implement a "no picking a game another player has already picked" rule to encourage earlier/riskier picks?

Nope, the rules were all agreed to... no point in changing them now.  If it ends quickly that's just a result of most participants sucking.

Suuuure you did.  Where's the post?  I know, you just update the first post to make your picks, which destroys the evidence when you go back later to add JamIt's picks.  How convienent.

Funny, I didn't realize how similar, or nearly exact :), CT and my picks have been.  Rest assured that my picks are have not been influenced by CT.  They are in fact influenced by my office confidence pool, which coincidently I have won the first 4 weeks  ;D

p.s. Chad, I'm leaning towards Indy over San Fran this week.  What do you think? :)

It's by far the surest pick this week.  We may all end up using it.

Not me, I try to stay away from the "sure" picks (after seeing how much good it did folks in the first week).  Denver over Washington.

Yeah, though now that the good teams have shaken themselves out, the sure things are a lot surer.

I would have picked the Bucs over Jets, but I can't pick the Bucs two weeks in a row.   :-\

Why on earth would it matter if their rookie QB was starting for them?  San Fran is a bottom-dwelling team that you shouldn't pick as a winner unless they're playing the local high school football team.  More commonly known as the girl's soccer team.

You flushed your pick by choosing San Fran in the first place.

In keeping with the "not a lock" pick methodology

Anyone over the Texans or 'Niners is considered a lock.  The odds are WAY too stacked in your favor in those games.

Chad?  You still playing?  I don't see your pick for this week.  And since you picked Indy last week, you'd have to go with the Rams tonight.  Don't like those odds.

So, now it's down to two.  Stupid that I lost by DQ, stupid on me, but that's the rule.

I was so focused on my own game sunday I forgot about this.  I played in my first game back from the back injury, started at DE.  Felt damn good to be back and my back sees no more ill effect than the rest of my bruised and cut up body.   :)
