Gentleman,

I have a nephew and niece that are < 1.  I want to make sure my dedicated 4 Way controller does well with both Pac Man and Q*bert.  What do you suggest for locking/rotating the controller or is there something available I don't know about?

Much appreciated.

Ultimarc sells the E-Stick which does rotate 45 degrees and has a 4-way restrictor.

It works better for kids (and adults too) if you replace the internal spring with a lighter one from Home Depot.  Do a search for topics started by 1up a couple of years ago for the specific spring model.

Thanks for the information.  I went to the site.  Chose the e-stik.  Got no problem with the price tag of $16 but the shipping is $13... yikes... promised myself never to exceed 20% on shipping.  I put a wanted note in buy/sell/trade.

That's the thing about ordering from Ultimarc- the shipping from the UK is steep.  But, it's the same $13 shipping if you order one thing or a bunch of stuff, at least up to a certain weight.  So it's not so cost-prohibitive if you buy a bunch of stuff from Ultimarc all at one time.

I understand the shipping setup they have.  I am going to give my wanted ad a few days.  I have most of the parts I want so there's no way to make the $13 worthwhile.

A simple physical restrictor plate with a ball top joystick would probably do the trick but Q*bert is another goal.

It will happen.  Just probably not on this particular project. :(
