Cab looks very nice.

Just a suggestion about the website loading slow.  It looks like you are using fullsized pictures on each page and just scaling them on the page to look like thumbnails.  You might take the time and actually make small thumbnail images and use those instead on the main pages.  The pages will load much faster and your visitors can still see the fullsized images by clicking on the thumbnails if you link to them.

ha! with geocities hourly bandwith quota's it's not hard... btw if you have a cable modem they more than likely give you free space that is better than teh geocities (or you could check out my sig =P )

good luck,

I only got to see one page before the bandwidth was exceeded, so maybe it is mention elsewhere, but...

I have almost the same setup with my audio, using 2 5 1/4's up top, 2 6 1/2s near the bottom, and 2 ten inch subs in a box outside the cabinet.  I'm using 3 seperate amps and threw in a 1 farad cap I had sitting around as well (can you tell one of my other hobbies is car audio).  I sprung for a 50 amp DC power supply with VU meters and don't even get *close* to using that much juice, I'm just wondering what size power supply you are using for the audio.

I also didn't get to see how you adjust volume.  I flush mounted an EQ with master volume under the control panel.

Nice design, cool to see someone else went through the trouble I did to get some good sound out of it (Shock Troopers 1&2 sound GREAT!).

Yes, very annoying  :(

Sorry all, It'll be fixed soon.

As for the Audio:  I think it's a 25, but I'll have to look again.  You might be able to see it in one of the pictures (if it would load).  I have a 12V AC to DC power converter mounted inside that will draw up to 30amps I think.  This was enough because the amp has a 20 or 25 fuse in it, so I know it won't pull 30.
I cranked it way up once, and could here some of my dance mp3s in the neighbors yard (cabs in my basement, so that's pretty decent).  It wound up shaking my super-huge gforce 4 card loose though, so I changed a couple things.
First I swapped the card for a smaller gforce3.  Second I set the gains on the amp at a lower level.  The amp has separate gains for the subs and the 6X9's.  Third, I set all the main volume to the max and all the other volumes (cd, wav, etc.) so that in the end it would be the loudest I would ever want it.  Finally, I hacked a cheap logitech keyboard that had volume buttons on it, and use those to control the windows main volume.  They're the yellow arrows on my cp.  That way if the main volume is maxed, I have the gains and other volumes so it won't exceed what I thought to be a safe level.

The flush mount EQ sounds pretty sweet.

Okay,  I seriously dropped the file size of all the pics on the main pages, and I removed many of the large sized close-ups that just weren't necessary.  This dropped my entire sites content down from 14.5mb to 3.9mb.  It should load much faster now.
However, since this is only a free geocities site they don't allow much bandwidth, and it seems they monitor that by the hour as well.  Thanks for being patient -----Jay

Good stuff Dr J.  It looks like all the joysticks are oriented the same way but the buttons for players 3 and 4 are angled.  Has this caused any problems?  I like the idea of the joysticks being the same for dual stick games which is what I have done on my mock up, however I kept the orientation of the buttons the same as well just positioned them differently with respect to the joystick.  Player 3 joystick is closer to the screen than the buttons and the opposite for player 4 (similar to nba hangtime).  This keeps the people basically in a row, not the ideal for space but I've got a 27" Tv so it doesn't seem that big.

Don't know why I said all that *shrug* (c) Rampy 2003

Like the software setup, you may get a few emails from me looking for some help.  I have seen somewhere (probably in the software section) that a frontend does have the game exit feature after certain idle time - but maybe it is something that might be in the next release.  Sorry but I can't remember which one.

Cheers

1/2 convert and 1/2 rebuilt.  It was a completely stripped down tmnt cabinet with nothing in it but some loose bolts and screws scattered on the bottom.  A lot of the wood was destroyed, so there was a lot of replacing to do.  The front panel is all new, as well as the back panel.  The speakerbox is obviously my own.  The sides needed some bondo, but weren't too bad.  The CP was complete scratch built.

BTW:  Isn't plexi/lexan a pain!

no...why..?

Plexi is sort of pain(i never had any problem) but i also cut some lexan(actually only once)..thats just like drilling wood. But lexan cost like 3 times more...

Say a decent size plexi cost like $8 while same size lexan cost over $30(too much for my poor --I'm attempting to get by the auto-censor and should be beaten after I re-read the rules-- ;D).

Wow! That's a nice cabinet.  You've really gone the extra mile with details.

I especially like the front end set up.  You are obviously a obsessive / compulsive, anal, perfectionist   ;)

I've been wanting something similar, to mix emulators and categories my way.

Nice work

damn, that's one big control panel!  It all looks great.

Thanks for the detailed write-up on your software solution... very interesting.

Thanks for all the compliments.

Yes, I am an obsessive, anal perfectionist.   It goes with being a 2nd year med student.  :P  I'm still not completely happy with it.  (If you saw my to do list).  After seeing some of the awesome CP overlays that others have done, now I want one too.

As for the size of the CP, yeah it's big.  ;D  I like that though.  It's as tall as it is so the glass over the monitor comes down flush with the CP.   For some reason it looks taller in the picture than it does in person.  It's probably because I got down on one knee to get a straight on shot of it.  For width, it's exactly 48" wide for several reasons.  1.  That's the length the wood and plexi came, so it was one less cut.  2.  It gives each player a little more than a foot of space (because of the angling) while still being pretty straight on to the monitor.  That's also partly why I sprung for the 27" monitor.  (D&D is a favorite game of me and my brothers.)  3.  It absolutely had to fit 2 mugholders on each side.   ;D
There's one more feature I'm working on also.  My brothers into programming, so I'm trying to get him to hack together a simple program so people can leave requests and suggestions on the cabinet.  It would be accessable through the Catagory selection list, and would work just like the name entry of D&D.  You'd use the joystick to select letters of the alphabet, numbers, space, backspace, and submit.  There would be a maximum number of characters that could be entered, and it would save to a .txt or something.  Put a cool little background to it and should be set.  That way  friends or my brothers could leave little requests for songs (for the jukebox) or games.  Just a thought I'm kicking around.
