DC keyboard?

are the dreamcast keyboards configurable as to which keys are assigned to certain buttons on the gamepad?

just wondering because this might avoid the problem of having to make any kind of external switch between PC and DC controls

arcade controllers wired to ordinary pc keyboard hack
then if you grab 4 DC controller to PS/2 keyboard converters
and then daisy-chain 3 PS/2 keyboard splitters to each of the 4 converters

so if you could assign certain keys for the dreamcast pads then you could avoid having to setup an external switch? just a bit of thinking i got up to this afternoon lol what's your opinion is there something ive overlooked?
