Foot pedals - what are you guys using?
« on: August 30, 2005, 07:57:27 pm »
I need to incorporate a couple dual pedals (analog) into my cab (for games like Super Sprint) and I've been looking all over but can't find that one single solution that will work for me.  So I thought I'd see what everyone else was doing and perhaps build upon an idea that would work with my cab.

Buy used Super Sprint pedals off of ebay.  They're on there pretty often, and they're not very expensive.  Hook 'em up with an A-Pac, AKI, or hack them to a PC analog joystick.

I have some second-hand Happ pedals (the 2 pedal setup).

I've been looking for pedals also. How would some thing like this work?

Pedals should be fine, and the wheel great for 270deg wheel games, but not 360deg spinner type (eg Super Sprint).

I assume you have an Xbox or an Xbox>USB adaptor?

Yup, I have an Xbox>USB. I also have a spinner with a wheel for 360deg so I should be good to go. Thanks!

Well...in that case, you might as well buy any one of the dozens of Steering wheel/pedal combinations on ebay that sell for 30 bucks or less.

I considered looking at the as well, but was concerned about not being able to use the pedals without the steering wheel.  I don't want to have to put the 270 wheel aside somewhere with cables running from it to the pedals when I want to use my 360 wheel...

Is there a way to use the pedals separately from the wheel?

These are great for the games that accept digital foot pedals.  I can't remember the exact model, but some of them run around $8 each without the cable (give them a call for the pricing).  Inside is a simple microswitch that you can wire up to your IPAC controller.
