Dude you spent that kind of money on a BB gun??  ;)  Actually it looks like a lot of fun.  Especially for those annoying neighbors pets.

Sugg. Retail Price: $629.95Our Price: $559.95

WHOA!   Atta boy, nice to see someone else is able to spend rediculous amounts of money on something that is more or less useless :)

Personally, I've always wanted one of these, but the price seems a tad steep (watch the vids!)

$600 to play a sophisticated version of "ring and run"?  Ahh... I'll have to pass.  Plus I live in New York so if I even think about purchasing such a thing, Bloomberg will come to my house and beat the living snot out of me.

I know very little about the nuts and bolts of guns, but .22 caliber is a lot bigger than a bb isn't it?  I remember shooting 22 caliber rifles in boy scouts as a kid and putting the bullets in straws and throwing them into the air so they would fire when they hit the ground.  The slugs were probably 3 times the size of a bb and they shot with a lot more force.  If I were to shoot someone's doorbell with it the thing would be destroyed.

Also, if the neighbor figures out that you are firing even a bb gun at the front door you're going to be in a lot of trouble.  I'm sure there are all kinds of serious charges like reckless endangerment that could be levelled against you.

Indeed.

Even if you were firing some stupid nerf projectiles, they could probably nail you with harassment, at least.

Most BB/pellet guns shoot .177 Cal.

Not sure where you live, but where I live, someone pointing a gun at your home, real or not, is committing a felony.

Not only that, but once I realized it was a BB gun, you'd better be faster than I am.

All the guy would have to do is file a criminal complaint and danny could be hauled off in cuffs when the cops show up and he's still doing it.

BBs would damage the house if it had something like aluminum siding.

It's not the gun that is the problem, it's the fact that he's freakin shooting someone's house with it.

It is not legal to shoot at people or their property.

It would probably have been cooler if you spent the money on components and BYO "universal doorbell remote". That way, you wouldnt even need a L.O.S. and would have appealed to the geek-ness of this community.  ;)

If this is the case, what possible purpose does gun ownership serve?

Not much of a point.

Guns - shooting on your own property, self defense, or licensed ranges.

Unless that guy's doorbell is coming right at you, or he left it in your yard, you're SOL.

I dunno I think Id have a fair bit of fun with that beast :)  I would be shootin the doorbell for hours, just to watch buddy come outside every 20 seconds looking for someone on his doorstep.  You just wait, he'll either see you, or a few hundred BB's on his doorstep and catch on.

Lest anyone think I was serious, that was meant as sarcasm.  What this gun is being used for obviously does not fall under 2nd Amendment protection.  Just because the 2nd Amendment protects the right to keep and bare arms, doesn't mean all uses of arms are suddenly legal.  Murder, armed robbery, being a public nuisance, and recklessly endangering the safety and/or property of your neighbors all come to mind.

It's pretty hard to hit a target as small as a doorbell with a trebuchet. Not to say that I haven't tried.

It depends on how large your amo is and how much collateral damage you are willing to accept.  Is it still collateral damage if it's not referring to dead people?

It's at least as productive as hurling a rock through the wall into the living room.

That's no where near as fun as hurling a rock through a wall though.

Maybe a third trebuchet would be in order. I mean you do need a way to get the flaming bag of dog poo on the porch.

Dude, stop thinking traditionally.  You have a trebuchet.

Do not fling flaming dog poo.  Fling dogs with the trots.
