Joystick
« on: August 29, 2005, 03:08:58 pm »
hello,  Centsible Amusements sells a 8 way leaf joystick that is made in China.  I was wondering if aybody had purchased one of these and how it feels.  I am building a retro cabinet and would like a leaf stick instead of the j-stick I normally buy from Andy.
I used to be cool,  then they changed what cool was

Those are generally regarded as crap.

Find a real Wico leafswitch stick on ebay and you'll be much happier.

The joystick is probably the one part where you shouldn't skimp.

A bad controller makes for a bad playing experience, which would invalidate all the work/money you put in making a MAME cabinet in the first place.

Yeah,  my last cabinet  I put in a J-stick and it wasn't the feel I was looking for being as I play all classics.  The only problem is the wico's are so stinkin hard to find.

If you don't mind used, I can sell you one (or more).

Or, if you want new, ebay user Nicade has NOS 4-way Wicos up for sale.  Buy one, disassemble it, and swap me the 4-way body for an 8-way body.  You'll still have the brand new switches, grommet, and handle, and I'll be able to convert one of my excess 8-ways to a 4-way.

PM me if you're interested.

Not really. You just have to know what to look for:

Here are two (with bonus cone start buttons)

Just ask the seller to send you everything BUT the metal panel. Should save you on shipping as well.
