Did I Fubar?
« on: August 29, 2005, 01:06:02 pm »
I'm in progress of building my cab.

http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=41641.0

I'm done with the painting.
Problem is I wasn't sure on the T-molding.
I'm using 1/2" plywood and not handy with the tools (router).
The cab is looking nicely and I've realize that I do need some type of molding.

Am I too far in to do it?  Will it ruin the paint?
Is there another option or another type of molding I can use?

Doesn't look too late to me.  A router and slot cutting bit will do the trick.  The router still has the outside of the cabinet to ride on.  Router bottoms are typically smooth plastic and should not scratch, however if you are concerned, just put down some masking tape first.

If you are worried about scuffing the paint, lay down a few strips of masking tape for the router to ride on.

Besides worrying about the paint, I was more worried about ripping the corners off.
If I ruined a piece before I put it together, it would have been easier to deal with.  But IF I was to damage the side pieces now, I might shoot myself.

Test. test test on a srcap piece of wood (same type of wood) before you put the router on your cabinet.

I think you should be fine.  But I'm not sure if or where you'll find 1/2" t-molding.  tmolding.com?

Masking tape for sure.  But I would definitely lay the cabinet on its side before doing the routing....

www.t-molding.com had 1/2" in black or white.
I'll probably use black

Wow, I really like your cab.  I also went with DK jr. Orange on my cab.  The DK Jr.'s had white molding and it really makes the Orange *POP*.

I agree, I wouldnt go with black t-molding. White would be a better match.

Great looking cab so far. :)
