Hanaho ho ho
« on: January 06, 2003, 10:33:02 am »
I was in a billiards store this weekend and saw a hanaho cabinet for sale.  Pricetag: $4000+ dollars. BWAHAHAHA!  ;D

Yes, I know, it's brand new... they  have to make a profit... etc.  God bless 'em if they can sell them at that price.  But that doesn't mean I can't laugh my butt off at it.

On a positive note, it made my girlfriend think mine was even cooler.  8)

My question is: how can you make a woman *think* that an arcade cabinet is cool? That would be an achievement by itself.

Probably not by using budwiser girls as sideart ;)

ROFL!   ;D

About the only way is if she liked video games too.  You might also make it do double duty as an mp3 jukebox...

Yeah those Hanaho cabinets are way overpriced.  Check out their website.  Even their Cocktail version is $2000.  Although I have to admit I have always liked their cocktail design.

I gave the suggestion to my wife that we give the kids their allowance in quarters... and don't allow them any free play on the cab.. heheeh ;)

Good ROI?

Jakobud, you must have seen an old price for the cocktail cabinet.  I love the design but the price is now 2999 plus shipping.

Check my sig, my wife's logged more hours than I have.

Actually, almost all the women I've shown the cabinet think it's great.  Of course, they want to play Ms. Pacman, centipede, and Q-bert...

I've found it amusing that reactions mostly fall into one of two categories.

1) a smile and "that's nice"

2) A smile you usually see on children's faces and "this is the coolest thing I have ever seen."

On a separate note, my roomate played moon patrol for about 2 hours last night and kept hitting the continue button, trying to make it all the way through -- some games are definitely not the same when you're not paying your allowance money for them.

That separate note is so true...  it kinda ruins it (you can just keep pumping in credits not caring if you get "hit" until you beat the game), but then again it's part of the point... and for some games it's like -> why DID I spend my allowance on them?

It's almost like the continuing-limited games give me the most replay value - I think I play "punchout" the most on my cabinet (only 1 continue)

The unlimited replay is especially bad for flight games.  My daughter lets herself die when shes out of smartbombs.... and think shes playing it right.

btw, LOVE how the thread turned...

my wife thinks a cocktail table would be cool... but only because then I could keep my hobbie in the living room, take less space, and put crap on it.

Mame should have an option so you can only "escape" out of games in between plays.  Its always so tempting to quit out and restart after a particularly frustrating death.   ;)

This proves that there's more interest in the obscure art of having the wife's approval than on Hanaho's ridiculous prices...
