Happs Golden Tee Trackball

I was looking for a trackball on happ's site on the only 3" white trackball they have is a "high lipped" version for Golden Tee.  There's also a mounting kit specific to that trackball.  What's interesting is that both the trackball and mounting kit are a bit cheaper than other 3" hardware. 

So my question is...what is the difference?  What does it mean by "high lipped" and will the trackball work for other games like Marble Madness, Rampart, etc?

I bought the Happ High Lip Trackball based on recommendations here.  It seems the general consensus was that if you are going to have Lexan or Plexiglass, the high lip part actually sticks up through the Lexan/Plexi and the top of the lip is flush with the top of the Lexan.  That is the way mine turned out.   Be warned if you use the High Lip trackball mounting plate it is a little bit larger than the standard one, and barely touched where my pushbuttons were and also caused me to have to route out a small part of the front of my control panel base.  Overall I like it though for it giving me a little bit more height on the trackball.  See my project and you will see photos of the install and the mods I had to make for it to fit.  It wasn't too bad.

Nice cab!  I read the entire thread...it's great how you detailed out your project.  I'm in the process of building the cabinet currently (just got done putting the baseboard and front panel onto one of the sides as well as some support beams.  I had meant to do the same, but I just don't have the attention span to do so...I'll take some pictures, then I'll start working...and by the time I remember to take some photos, I've already built half the side of the cabinet...oh well.

I guess I'll get the Happs hi lip trackball.  They sure are expensive and I plan on getting 2 of them (for 2 player Marble Madness/Rampart/etc).  I'm currently planning to build a 4 player cp with the 1st and 2nd players being modular, but I've probably changed cp plans 5 times since I started.

Do you have the dimensions on your "Heavy-Duty 3" Trackball Mounting Kit"?  (Happs lists your plate as such, and there are two plates that fit the highlip & original 3" trackballs.)  Looks 7"x7"?
Happs only shows sizes for the standard 3" normal/highLip kit, as well as the 3" HighBall kit.  The standard highlip plate is 6.5"x6.5", the highball plate is 7.5"x7.5" (and the 2.5" TB mounting plate is 6"x6").  From your pictures, you have the new heavy duty mounting kit, which fits the normal & HighLip TBs (like the 6.5"x6.5" plate).  (If you mentioned the size in your posts, I'm sorry, I didn't see it.)  Happs really should list the size, or am I just being blind today?

Your right, Happ doesn't list the size, unless what they are calling the High Ball is the one I have.  It will be hard to measure it now that it is in control panel with the graphic and Lexan over it.  I think I can measure from the center of the trackball to the buttons above (that I had to cut around by 1/8")  OK, I just made that measurement.  From the center of my track ball vertically up to the lower two buttons of the three above the trackball, it is 3 3/4"  Actually it is 3 5/8" but I remember I had to notch out the plate to allow the buttons to fit in their holes.  So, doubling 3 3/4" gives 7 1/2"  This is the part number I ordered from Happ: 55-0321-00.  Hope that helps.
