Why Bacon?
« on: August 23, 2005, 02:36:17 pm »
OK, I've been reading this forum for appx a year now, and the (seemingly recent?) fascination with bacon intrigues me.

Myself, I'm particular to baked ham, but will eat bacon if presented with it at breakfast.  It's not like I'll go out of my way to find that particular hunk-o-pig.

Why bacon?  Is the preferred method of preparation burned crisp beyond recognition, or limp, with fatty goodness attached?

Inquiring minds want to know.
But wasn't it fun to think you won the lottery, just for a second there???

Spam is bacon's bastard cousin. Let us never speak of it again (unless we feel like it).

OK, I've been reading this forum for appx a year now, and the (seemingly recent?) fascination with bacon intrigues me.

What I want to know is why you've been here for approximately a year and you waited this long to ask?  Clearly your thought process has been hindered by lack of bacon, and you're only digging yourself a deeper hole with each passing day.  Why, grasshopper?  Bacon does NOT work via osmosis.  Put it to use, and you shall learn.

The method isn't the magic, it's the meat, man!  I can't believe you don't get that it's the meat.

Bacon is great..

On a sandwich...
.. in an omlette
or a la carte!

On a potatoe  <--- for you Dan Quayle fans
.. in baked beans
or wrapped around a fillet mignon!

:D
mmmm I probably prefer a la carte but on a baked tater is good stuff too.. I do not like it real limp.. not burned to a crisp either... a little crispy yet still meaty.

I like sausage about 100 times more than I like bacon. There just doesn't seem to be any substance to bacon.

Paige has been taken over by Mirror-Spock, which would explain his newfound loathing for bacon. There's only one thing for it. Tie him to a photon torpedo and put him out the nearest airlock.

That is the Evil Alternate Universe Spock, who has a goatee, since he is from an evil alternate Universe. Of course the evil Spock ends up being the same, but with a goatee (since Spock is dedicated towards logic and law, and is pretty neutral on the good/evil axis).

Yes, there is something wrong when one of us loves the sausage too much.

Pat Boone is a man's man.  In Pat Boone's world, Bjork is the person who gets an asskicking for leaving the red m+ms in the bowl backstage.

I think the bacon thing might be just a fad. Remember about a year ago everybody wanted to be a pirate? And before that there was a bunch of people trying to make their own arcade machines! Weirdos.
The bacon will die down eventually on this forum, but it will forever live on in our hearts (litteraly).

Damn, its contagious.

I stopped at the local hotdog place to pick up lunch...  Without thinking, I promptly ordered 2 texas tommies - which are hotdogs, wrapped in BACON.

It was such a subconcious decision, I have to blame it on BYOAC.

Hm... BYOAC/BACON... Only one letter off as anagrams.

Bacon !?!?!?

Y'all are HEATHENS. Do you hear me? HEATHENS!

Pancetta is the only cured meat worthy of discussion.

The Prosciutto Integration Guild (PIG) stands ready to educate you to the joys of Pancetta, and hear confession of the consumption of mediocre cured meat products.

Your penance -- eat a 1/4 pound of pancetta.

Pancetta is cured Prosciutto -- available at any decent Italian butcher.

It also goes by the name "Spek" in German-speaking areas.

It's what bacon aspires to be.
