How does a Pedal work?

I bought a old racing cab that I plan to use for pole position and other similar games and have used the mouse hack to get the steering wheel to work, but does anyone know how the pedals are typically set up or have a link to some info?

There are two kinds of pedals out there- Analog and Digital.

Digital pedals are either on, or off- just like a button.  And that's how you interface them, too, same as a button.

Analog pedals use a potentiometer (like a volume knob).  The further you push the pedal down, the more you turn the pot(entiometer).  Pots are interfaced through the A-Pac or AKI mentioned above.  Or they are hacked to an analog PC controller, the famous example being the Microsoft Dual-Srike hack.

Well its an analog pedal, here is a picture (sorry for the poor quality, I tried to take another but my batteries died and I didn't feel like going to the store for new ones. The pedal has a plate that is attached to it at a 90 degree anlge from where your foot sits. The plate runs parallell to the part in the pic about a half inch away. Any ideas how it works and what the signal would look like?

looks to me like a normal pedal. Just ON/OFF, so I'd say treat it like a normal button, and get batteries for your camera.  Cause that pic doesnt look like anything
