WTS: byrdo style joystick
« on: August 19, 2005, 09:48:56 am »
I would be willing to make someone a www.byrdo.org style joystick. Parts alone would cost approximately $125, so I would be looking to charge around $175 for an 8 button joystick. I'm an artist and woodworker, so I think this could come out really nice. I guess wiring to a dual shock is probably the easiest thing too (like byrdo does). Well, just tell me if anyone wants a nice looking joy and I will work on it.

maybe this is more appropriate... do you think i would be able to get $175? Is there a market out there? I think byrdo probably charges more

In general my sticks have sold anywhere from $160-$400

There's a market somewhere... when you find it, let me know.

This whole website is geared toward people who want to build their own "byrdo-style" joystick, not overpay for one that's pre-made ($125 in parts? How do you figure? a joystick is $8, 8 buttons are $12.  Throw in another $50 for wood, acrylic, hardware and an old PS2 controller and you're covered).  You might have better luck trying to sell these on gaming forums, where people don't know what things cost and how easy it is to make your own.

I'd contact him and see if you can get a box of stuff for yourself.  You might save a few bucks.  I don't know how it all works though, it may be easier just getting them from Rod.  I guess it depends on how many you plan on doing, but at first glance it looks like a cheaper source.

You can go on www.shoryuken.com/forums and go to either the buy/sell section or the hardware/technical support section.  The people there are mainly competitive fighting game players, so they need a stick to carry around to play at various tournaments.
