Has anyone put NES emulator on their GBA?
« on: August 18, 2005, 08:34:49 am »
I stumbled across a website that said this could be done...i had no idea such a thing was possible.

It said something about needing a GBA flashcard...anyone have one or know where i can get one, or is online stores the only places that have them?

To the people that have done this, how is it??  Is it worth it??

Don't expect to much of it, it is possible but you indeed need a flash card. Flash cards are 'normally' used to test your software development on the real hardware instead of on an emulator. Is it worth it? Depends. There are illegal roms around for the GBA that can be flashed onto such a card and then you can use them. But then again you are only entitled to do so if you own the original. What I suggest is that you first try it out with an emulator. If you think it's worth it afterwards you can always buy such a card. They are available via online stores (I have one to do my gba development)

I had a Master System emulator on my GBA using a Flash2Advance card and it worked a treat. I cant remember at the mo what the emulator was called but a little goolging should bring it up. If the GBA can handle a MS emu then I dont see no reason why it wont be able  to handle a NES one.

Not that it has anything to do with this forum.  But yes.

Thanks for the help guys....any more info, such as ease of use, playability, etc....i found flashcards on the net selling for upwards of 100.00 or so for the big memory cards.  Just wondering if it's really worth the investment.

Oh yes, and thanks Turbo C for your greatly informative, descriptive, and useful message of "Yes".  That helped me more than anything else.  :P
