Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike Fight for the Future

Such an awesome game. I finally found one of these cabinets at The Good Time Emporium in Somerville, MA.

http://www.goodtimeemporium.com/

I noticed KLOV doesn't have a marquee picture up so i will try and get there to snap a good photo.

Anyone who hasn't played this game yet ABSOLUTELY HAS TO!
The art and animation alone is worth the tokens.

-=XD=-

ps all of the cabinets have beer holders for two!

If that's the one I'm thinking of, I got to the end using Ken the first time I played it. It was probably set to some easy setting, though. I also got to the end of the game with the KI2 they had at the same place.

They took out Ken's roll :(

Great game though! Personally, I would much rather play Real Bout Fatal Fury Special. IMO, RBFFS just has more style. The animation in sfIII 3rd Strike is awesome and the parry stuff is just bad ass in the arcade. I am sure everyone has seen the daigo parry video. But if you haven't.....

http://media.shoryuken.com/srk-daigo.zip

This couldn't happen on the Dreamcast version because of the parry stuff being easier in the arcade...so I've heard. I am not too good at the parry stuff myself and have never really put much time into the arcade version. My buddy has one and I have been meaning to hit him up for it :)

still rather play rbffs though

Yeah I got the flyer for the Tokyo Game Action Tourney.
It's in Woonsocket RI.

I am so close to Goodtimes If you wanna meet up and go head to head that would be awesome. My Girlfriend will show you how to play some guilty gear too. lol

Goodtimes is awesome for how close I am to it.

I pass by Goodtimes everyday and never thought to see what they had in there. I'm not into fighters so much though- do they have a classic corner?

SF3:3S is arguably one of the best 2D fighters out.  I love this game.  And Megalo, you suck...  I want those cabs :'(

There are near arcade-perfect ports of SF3:3S to both DreamCast and XBox.

The PS2 version isn't bad either.  All much cheaper than buying a whole cab (or even just a CPSIII unit + game) for just one title. :)

What's not perfect about the version on Xbox in the Street Fighter Anniversary Collection?

I have never actually played the Arcade version, so I am actually curious.

Obviously it is no longer setup up for coin/token credits, but as far as gfx and gameplay go, is it at all lacking?

I don't have an XBox nor a PS2.  From what I understand in order of "correctness" (ie: sound/graphics/etc) it goes:

1) Dreamcast
2) XBox
3) PS2

XBox also has "XBox Live" for online play, which is popular amoungst tournament players (check out the shoryuken.com forums, or ozhadou.net for Aussie players).  Third parties have told me the graphics are best on Dreamcast.  PS2 graphics are supposedly "fuzzier" (lower res perhaps?).  Not my words (again, I don't own one and can't comment nor confirm such statements).

"Arcade perfect" in my eyes would be everything right down to the "insert coin".  Console versions will always be different, and sometimes for the better (ie: new tournament/versus modes, online play, extra characters/music/etc).  All modern consoles are CD/DVD based, so you're always going to get load times.

At any rate, you have to decide whether or not the cost of a CPSIII unit (complete with suicide batteries and the rest of their dramas) is worth your money for a single title compared to a $20 dreamcast and a second-hand copy of the game bought off ebay for a few more bucks.  Remembering also that DreamCasts can output straight to 15-pin DSUB (with appropriate cable) for superb picture quality on real arcade monitors.  No hardware mods needed (asides for maybe a controller hack if you want to play on sticks).

For me as a casual player, the DreamCast version was a winner. :)

DC version of 3S is not arcade perfect at all.  Many people would say that the PS2/XBOX Anniversary Collection ports are much better.  Urien's unblockable SA3 combos, for example, don't work right in the DC version.
