Name this control
« on: January 02, 2003, 11:22:03 am »
Came across a control that looks like a spinner but is an 8-way joystick that also acts as a push-down button.

Anybody know what game this came from?

Thanks.

Frontline?  I'm only guessing that because it looks like one that was disscussed here recently.

From the Forgotten Worlds arcade machine.  Basically a depressable spinner.

Spinner controls the direction of fire
Pressing down fires
joystick controls movement

This type of control was used in Frontline, Wild Western and at least one other that escapes me right now. These function more like an eight way joystick that you cannot center.

According to KLOV, Forgotten Worlds used an optical rotary control.

Wow, they have great prices.  A full cocktail table (minus machine/monitor) for 500... this is with the glass and mame prints.
