problem with picture, think it is the board
« on: August 15, 2005, 01:07:06 am »
HI EVERYONE,
I am having a problem with my pacmania arcade machine.  On the left side of the picture, the image is bending down, so it is straight and as it should be on about 90 percent of it, but starting at the top on the left, the picture bends down and looks terrible.  At first i thought it was the monitor, so i got a NEW monitor, and it still does it.  I am assuming now that it is the board, does anyone know what causes this?  is it a chip on the board?  any advice is appreciated!  thanks.

I can't help, but I think you got confused about the Forum categories.  The "Board/Website discussion" is for discussion about the Arcadecontrols.com message board (where we are right now), not discussion about PCB Boards :D

Try either the Main forum or the Monitor/Video forum, depending on where you think the problem is in your machine.

Hope you find a fix

It might be a sync issue, (some boards give a strange sync compared with others)

That problem sound familiar.

Wanna chime in ken?

"Flagging" type of problems are generally caused by a mis-adjusted horizontal hold/freq pot on the monitor. Sometimes a weak sync signal will do it.

What is the specific make & model of monitor?

Ken,
i have no idea, i bought the monitor rebuilt from a guy who builds them from scratch, but i bought several others from him with no problem.  My old monitor had the exact same problem in the exact same place so i would have to think that it is the board, not the monitor.

Could it be the wiring harness, losing voltage on one of the pins?

To boost the sync can't you run it thru 2 gates on a 7404?
