ACT LABS GUNS
« on: August 14, 2005, 11:28:42 pm »
Hey I have a BRAND new set of ACT labs, they are the monitor setup, NOT THE TV ONES, they are VGA only and NOT the S-video.  There are 2 guns with the setup and the AC adapter, if you want the guns for your mame cab and are using a MONITOR, these are it!

I am looking for an ARCADE VGA card if you want to trade.

I am open to offers for these guns as i do not know what to ask for them.

Sorry to say, but those guns don't work well with mame and aren't worth much at all.

Lilwolf I'm confused-- I have 2 act-labs pc guns on my mame box and they work beautifully--do you know somethig about the original posters equipment that isn't stated?
its better to not post and be thought a fool, then to whip out your keyboard and remove all doubt...

I can only think there is some confusion about which guns are being mentioned.

The Act labs PC USB VGA guns are indeed - as menace says - probably they best 'off-the-shelf' solution available (or not available now, as it happens). The new guncon2 pc hack has been very successful for some people (but not all) and if it works is probably comparable/better.

However, Actlabs also used to make a VGA gun called "GS Gun" or something. I've never used them, but reports suggest they are actually quite bad in use. I am guessing Lilwolf thinks these are the guns being referred to?

The original poster probably needs to confirm which actlabs vga guns he is selling.

Do the two guns share a holster? If so, they are the GS guns. I owned a couple. They suck royally. They don't interface correctly with MAME. They don't have proper mouse emulation (which MAME needs to work properly).

When I hear "two guns", I think of the GS. Now if we're talking about 2 seperate, indepedent guns then yes... they ought to be good.

Oh wait. You mentioned the third controller. Yeah, you've got yourself a GS. I hate to tell you, but it's virtually worthless for MAME. I hope you didn't spend much on it.
