USB ports and TV Question
« on: January 01, 2003, 11:53:28 pm »
Hey,
Just two quick questions, is there a multi-tap for usb ports so you can plug multiple usb plugs into it then plug it into one usb port on the pc to make it so you can have more controllers?  and If you are using a TV as a monitor will games that require the Light gun work with a TV or just the monitor?
Thank you.

You can buy USB hubs that will give make multiple ports out of one port. I believe these can also be daisy chained for even more ports. I believe the limit of USB devices to be absurdly high.

The current act-labs light gun that is supported in Mame is only for PC monitors, not arcade monitors or TV's. Act-labs is accepting pre-orders for a gun that will work with TV's and not PC monitors but they will only bill you for the gun if they get enough orders to make it worth making the gun and you won't be billed untill it ships.

TV's and PC monitors work differently so one lightgun will not work with both. I am not aware of a gun that will work with both.
My statements are my own opinions. They have the value that the reader gives them. My opinion of my opinion varies between foolish and brilliant and these opinions often change with new information.

just to add.  You can get a usb hub at any computer store like best buy.  Ther are two types of hubs, powered and not powered.  If oyu plan on daisy chaining a bunch of them definately get powered, otherwise non-powered is fine.
