A few notes for the newbies

I don't sell batches of less than 200 for the first few months to maximize sales and reduce the risk of being stuck with unsold tokens.

There weren't many requests for large quantities for the last two batches, so I figured that'd be the case here as well. Plus, I just couldn't make time for creating all possibilities last night.

I will try to put 1000's up there in the next day or so. Maybe 750 also?

Sorry, maybe I missed it, but is there not going to be a year on the token? I understand why it wasn't on the M.A.M.E.^TM token, but I like that it was on last years BYOAC token (even though I didn't get any). Maybe since both the front and back are Pixel's designs (both I voted for

) he would be persuaded to add the date to one of them. Just a thought. I should be pre-ordering in a week or so. Thanks Santoro.

Could we also get the "C" in the big "BYOAC" on the back to look like a "C"? It currently look almost like the "O". What I mean is since the letter "C" has an opening, couldn't the "C" have a small opening on the coin too since the "Y" has an opening.

I placed my pre-order: 100/100 split or whatever. Both metals are cool because when I was a kid if you got a silver token you got 10 more free brass (1 credit) ones, and if you got a purple you got a 100 free!

These are really neat and I am very excited they are available. Thanks to all who contributed.

I'm thinking of pre-ordering these tokens but that would mean I'd have to replace my $0.25 cent mechs in my four player cab and the mame cab i'm currently building. I saw a couple of .984 token mechs on the happs website but I'm unsure of which ones to get. I'd love to get the cheapest ones if possible. I also heard that there's a way to modify the .25 cent coin mechs to allow for tokens, but I still need to get at least two new ones for my mame cab.

Personally, I like the sound a coin makes as it passes through the mech. It's all part of the original feel for me. I've considered your route, though.

We had a nice first two days, but the orders have slowed a lot. We will probably be able to order 10K brass. Nickel is still TBD depending on the next week or so. Demand for brass is slightly higher than nickel.

the reason i ordered just nickels is because it is same color as quarters.

never did really liked using tokens in arcade because you are forced to use them all. it has no cash value

but with quarters you can just spend what amount you want and leave.

like for example you only want to spend $4.50 in arcade but you put in $5 in change machine to get $5 Worth of tokens. well too bad you have to spend the whole $5 instead of $4.50

Just placed my order 100/100...honestly I'm good with all Nickel as well (as I have all Brass from last year)...if it makes a difference...otherwise a split is great for me...just looking forward to more awesome BYOAC tokens. I encourage anyone who is even remotely considering doing it to take the plunge, based on previous experiences you will NOT be disappointed (and look how much last years tokens are going for now..think of it as an investment)

100 tokens is not very many, its like a handfull really. If you dont mind constantly empying your coin bucket, then go for it, but you'll probably fill it pretty quickly if you have a game of puzzle bubble or TMNT (or similar very attictive games).

I think the minimum anyone should have is 200. I already have some MAME tokens and ive preordered 200 BYOAC tokens.

it's my understanding that Santoro only preorders to make sure that he can break even. So, once he gets enough preorders to break even, he puts in the order which includes quite a few tokens beyond what was pre-ordered.

If the other BYOAC and MAME tokens are any clue, you should be able to get tokens for at least a few months after the pre-orders are done.

Yes. All my tokens so far are the exact same size - .984" It would be illegal to make them the exact same size as quarters but they look the about the same size when you look at them.

I am still awaiting lead proofs from the mint. I asked for a status via email on Wed but have not heard back yet. I will make a phone call on Monday. So it appears we do have a delay of a few weeks here. Apologies for that. This is the first time I have had such a delay, I am guessing it might be because the design is more complex than usual.

Is the fat rough edge just excess material on the proofs that gets cut off later?

My wife advises me that Nickel arrived today. Unfortunately I am in Virginia at corporate HQ in training so I can't take pictures. Mrs. Santoro is counting tonight, shipping should start Thursday.

got mine today. brass only. holy crap they are nice. I was worried about the small font, but it kinda gives the tokens a slightly worn look which I much prefer over the shiny nickel ones I got last time. these feel just like the tokens I remember as a kid from aladdin's castle.

Can someone who has recieved theirs post a pic next to come currency that we recognise? I just want to get an idea of the size.

.984" is pretty close the size of a Canadian dollar coin. A "loonie" is slightly larger than 1"... by a very small fraction; where .984 should be only slightly smaller.

It will help to placate me until my nickel order arrives next week some time (hopefully).

i got mine, but no comparison checks, mostly not with canadian money. i read over this thread last night pretty late, and then turned off my comp. after a bit, it hit me that i hadn't checked my mail yet yesterday, so i ran out to the mailbox in 32 degree weather to check my mail in shorts and moccasins at 10:30 at night. man i was so excited. they're sweet.

Wow! I can hardly believe too! Remember the Mame Nickels were in stock for months after the inital orders.

After opening my token package I started thinking about all the time it must take to count these out, bag them, wrap them in protective newspaper, seal the pack and then put them in mailers and safety tape the envelopes.

Your tokens are flippin' awesome! I got mine on Monday... I'm tweaking my cheapo 25c coin mech to accept them.

One problem... I SHOULD HAVE PREORDERED MORE! I did not really think it through... 200 tokens, not enough. I want a whole fish bowl (less the fish and water of course) full of these things!

There was plently of time to preorder these tokens in 100 or 200 lots. Those who got "samplers" of the original run of MAME tokens should feel lucky as the popularity of these things have become so increasingly popular that I doubt that any future token runs will ever get to the stage for samplers.
