2 control panel clamps, or 4?
« on: August 08, 2005, 02:54:02 pm »
A while ago I ordered 2 control panel clamps from Happ Controls. However, I was wondering if 2 is enough, because I've seen many CPs that use 4? Should I order another two next time I place an order from Happ if I want my panel to be truly secure?

I'm planning on having a second panel on my 'cab for my positional guns. Lucky for me my guns came with the original control panel which had the top halves of the original clamps still fastened on, so I won't have to pay for another set of clamps just for the top halves when I build my second CP. ;D

I am about to order my bezel, panel clamps and marquee retainer, and wanted to make sure that i should only get 2 clamps, there was only 1 responce before, and that's not too assuring.
my cpbox is 24X48 sitting on a cp "ledge" that is 14.5X27

thanks
mike

p.s. the posting and you inspired me to bump this thread instead of starting a new one  ;)

Play it safe and buy 4.

I say this because your panel is twice as wide as the average single-player cabinet CP. Those CPs typically use 2 clamps, but I've even seen 3 used (Midway classic cabs with metal CP used 3!)

Your CP is twice as wide, so might as well get yourself 3 or 4 clamps.
NO MORE!!

KInd of releated..  I just ordered a marquee retainer and bezel.  Call it in and ask if they can do USPS shiiping.  UPS will cost you a small fortune.  Still USPS from Las Vegas to Long Beach,CA (they ship from the closest store that has it in stock) was 22.  The boxes they come in are big.

If you are getting the Happs spring loaded clamps..  2 will be just fine.

If you install these correctly, so that they cause the spring to tighten as you
clamp..  they are seriously strong.   Strong as a Vice grip.  (same technology)

I dont care if your panel is 4' x  8'   with 2 spring clamps,   it anit moving.
