The only two things that would prevent you from doing this well are:
1) The original sideart wasn't designed to be in the sun.
The ink used on most of the sideart will fade quickly when exposed to UV.
Applying a UV-blocking clear overlam MIGHT help this; but I'm not sure, given the instability of the ink itself.
2) The original sideart has no protection on it.
In addition to the UV protection needed above, the art would also need to be protected against physical damage.
A 2 mil polyester overlam would take care of this pretty easily.
If it was UV-blocking as well, you could kill two birds with one stone.
Alot of the repro sideart being produced should be using inks that are more UV stable, so a quick overlam should make them work for applications like this.
