How in the HELL?! - Need some help for tomorrow!

This is how I want to mount smoked plexi to my cab. I do not plan to use a bezel.
I am doing the screwing together tomorrow and laying the 1st coat of paint on sunday, so my question is HOW IN THE HELL DO I ATTACH THE PLEXI AND KEEP IT IN PLACE? I cant find this info ANYWHERE! Do I use a strip of MDF behind and screw it in place or what?

I know some people are using the control panel to hold it in, but my cab uses an x arcade (I know I know!) which slots into a cutout, I doubt it will have the weight to hold a sheet of glass in place.

what did you screw it onto? Did you put MDF strips behind the glass, attach to the sides of the cab and screw onto that, or did you screw where the top of the glass meets the marquee board?

The UAII plans that I'm working from suggest just that.  Strips of MDF attached to the cab from behind the "bezel" area.  they"ll be visible in your case though if you don't plan on using a bezel.

Perhaps routing out a channel below the marquee area for the plexi to sit in vertically, then just 2 screws at the bottom (behind the X-Arcade)?

Hi. I used strips of 3/4 " mdf and attached the plexi with industrial strength Velcro. This way you have no screws visible and its easy to remove the glass if you need to. You can get it inn the crafts department at walmart for a  few bucks.

I used, on the top, two small blocks (2x3 cm) of MDF, one attached to each side of the cab. On the bottom I used the monitor shelf itself. I did not use a bezel, but I painted the plexi in black (inside side) leaving only the monitor screen showing. Then, for really hiding the monitor bezel itself, I used a little of dark grey sponge all around it. The sponge is then slightly pressed by the plexi when the screws are in and it looks really nice. The advantage is that later, if I decide to add a bigger screen, I can recover the TV set for anything else cause it will have no marks of tape whatsoever ...

Here's how I'm doing mine..  I cut a 'groove' along the 3/4" strip that i'm using to hold my admin buttons.  The plexi sits in the groove, then going to paint a strip of aluminum molding to screw into the wood to hold it down...

You can't tell, but my plexi's at an angle, too 

And I used a table saw..  Although, not many people have those, either

You can get the groove done with a skil saw if you are very careful...  I've don't similar grooves myself with just a skill saw.

You can even cut this slot with a straight backed hand saw, a couple clamps and a piece of scrap wood with one straight edge to act as a guide.  You'll have to make two parallel cuts.  You can probably pop the waste piece out with a medium sized screwdriver.

Power tools let you do things faster, but "things" can include screwing up.

I put magnetic catches for kitchen cabinets inside the cab, and glued the metal piece that they use onto the back of the plexi.

That way I can get the glass off in about 3 seconds.
