Need help with marquee and control
« on: August 02, 2005, 09:01:32 pm »
Finally, after 5 years just reading and dreaming I am building my own Arcade.

I though it would be a very pleasure job to be done but I could not image it would be this good. I am already planning on building another 3 machines...

The Cabinet will be blue and the control panel black. Black T-Molding is on it's way too.
I am using a 2 player control panel with blue buttons for the players, white buttons for coin and start and four buttons for admin issues (green, white, blue and red). Ah, two black ones for pinball purpose...

I hope that the colored admin buttons won't mess too much with the global layout.

Well, but now I am facing a hard point: what to do in the marquee and what name could I give to the machine? I am thinking of SONIC ARCADE, and use Sonic in the marquee. Anyone has a better idea? Others caracthers I thought could be nice were Felicia, from Darkstalkers, Chun-Li or Megaman.

I did a 2 day search on the web to find some nice classic Sonic image but I could not find at a good quality.
The one I would like to use is this:

Does anyone has a better image to be used?

I want a classic image, from the good old Sonic from the early 90's.

If someone could help me with the marquee and control panel I would apreciate. I don't know how could I pay...

During this week I am going to work on something for the marquee and CP. I will post here as soon as I get it done.

In the mean time, if someone could give me ideas, link, etc, it would be nice. I already did a good search over the forum and viewed most of the links people posted here.

Here is a pic of the current stage of my dream machine.

Thanks for all the help, this board was really helpfull (as the BYOAC site, thanks guys!!!).

If you do a search in yahoo or google and select image I think you will find a lot to choose from.  Here is one site that probably has 20 different pictures:

and I've attached one of the pictures.

Glad to help.  I have had a lot of success especially on marquees just using raster images if they are large enough to begin with.  The one I've attached is 800X600 and you should easily get a 6" figure out of it in very good shape without having to trace it into illustrator.

Might want to at least give it a shot before you spend a few hours on it.
