console in cabinet & arcade power supply
« on: August 01, 2005, 09:16:39 pm »
Ive heard if I put a computer for mame into my arcade cabinet I will have to disable the original power supply because it will burn out without a load. Im assuming this would be the same if I put a dreamcast into my cabinet. My question is can I put a switch on the power supply so I can still plug the cabinet in to power the monitor when using the dreamcast but when Im using my mvs jamma board I can just flip the switch on my power supply. Or is it just as easy to unplug the power supply?

People say yes install a switch. Make sure you know what you are doing (since we're talking about AC power here) and that the switch is rated for the voltage.
NO MORE!!
