  • I want to Build My Own Arcade Controls!!
Back to the drawing board
« on: August 01, 2005, 04:07:59 pm »
Yesterday I commited an arcade crime. Back to the 80's, my feeble attempt at converting an old Jamma cab, was emptied of it's monitor, had it's control panel carefully removed and lastly had the pc taken out.

The Beginning of the End
With the valuable parts removed and stored for re-use it was time for the ultimate sin. The empty shell was destined never again to resonate to the sound of aliens invading, froggers frogging or defenders, well, defending. Dragged into the garage it was about to take the worst beating of it's long life.

Enter the Sledgehammer
I swear as I struck the first blow I could hear pac-man dying. Pretty soon the wreckage lay about me like so much flat-pack furniture.

The Last Rites
The final trip was an ignoble end for a machine that brought such joy. Piled in the back of the car it was taken down the municipal rubbish tip to be recycled. I'd like to think one day it may come back as paper on which I'll sketch the design of it's successor.

It was just a generic, badly put together jamma cab. None of the jamma harness there or anything, just a wobbly, old, bad looking shell of a cab. To be honest, it was a mercy killing.

I'd never do this to a classic but this deserevd it!
