They've got a list of games and controllers used here...  http://www.fortunecity.com/tinpan/underpass/24/arcadeplan01.htm

Where will I use rotary joysticks?
Caliber 50
Forgotten Worlds
Guerrilla War
Heavy Barrel
Ikari III?
Ikari Warriors
Midnight Resistance
SAR - Search and Rescue
Time Soldiers
Tron (one set)
Victory Road

And to use them properly, you may want Druin's Rotary Interface.

I'm going to say no.  http://69.33.42.246/Arcade/LS30.aspx  Note that the handle can only be removed from underneath by releasing a latching tab, so if you don't route out a lot of CP material, you won't be able to remove the handles later.

You could always use the Happ mechanical rotaries, Happ Optical Rotaries, or the 49-way with Fl0yd's adapter and the GP-Wiz49 interfaces.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here's a list of rotary games I put together a while back:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Battle Field
Top Gunner (bootleg)
World Wars
Ikari Warriors
Victory Road
Heavy Barrel
Gondomania
Bermuda Triangle
Time Soldiers
Guerilla War
SAR - Search And Rescue
Downtown
Legendary Wings
Victory Road
Midnight Resistance
Ikari III - The Rescue
Exterminator
TNK III
Touchdown Fever
Caliber 50 (used optical rotary sticks)

I make no claim as to the accuracy or completeness of this list.  Corrections/Additions welcomed!

-----------------------------------------------
Rotary info from one of my old posts:
-----------------------------------------------

Happ makes a mechanical rotary joy, they can be had used for less than the NOS LS-30s you see for sale on Ebay.  They look like Happ Supers from above the panel, and play pretty much the same, too.  Wico used to make rotary sticks, too- they pop up on ebay once in a while.  (edit) There's a new option since I originally typed this up-  there's fl0yd's rotary adapter that ataches to the bottom of a Happ 49-way joystick.  It is the same rotary switch that is used on the Happ rotary stick linked above. (edit)

There are also optical rotary sticks out there  Optical rotarys can be used to play mechanical rotary games, although some (including myself) don't think they feel right.  Mechanical rotarys will not play optical rotary games, or at least will not play them well.

Optical rotary sticks like the ones used on Cal .50, and the Build-Your-Own project sticks found on this board connect through an Opti-Pac, mouse hack, or other such stuff, same as a spinner.

Mechanical rotary sticks can connect through the Druin's interface , or can be connected directly through your keyboard encoder if you use MAME Analog+.  Direct connection uses up 12 extra inputs on your encoder per stick, but provides the most accurate game play.  Direct connection is only working for some games (so far).

re: Xybots

Xybots sometimes gets listed as a rotary game, but it used a unique Twist-To-Turn stick.  The stick did not rotate, but could be twisted a little ways- then it would spring back to center when you stopped twisting.  Twist right and let go once, and your charachter turned 90 degrees to the right.  Repeat, and you've turned 180 degrees.. and so on.  You could get Xybots working fine with a mechanical rotary and a Druins, or using "Rotate Right" and "Rotate Left" buttons, or even an original Xybots stick- but I don't think it would work very well with an optical rotary.

Only the bootleg of Top Gunner allows you to use the rotary joystick.

Also, Xybots is one of the games that you CAN use with a druins board... but can't with analog+ mame.

There is currently (? haven't checked for a while) a bug with the ikari (and vict road :( ) games that they loose tracking.

So only about 1/2 of the true LS-30 games run on analog+ mame and direct.  And no hacks to games that have close controls like xybots.

Does Druin's interface board require the original wiring harness for the joysticks?

Basically, I want to know if I get some LS-30 joysticks, then should I make sure they include the wiring harness or not.

With the original LS-30, I have found that you can force an IDE cable onto the pins.  (It's a tight fit, but it can be done.)  Then you have to remove the connector from the other end, strip the wires, and hook 'em to the Druin board.

The Happ rotary has the wires soldered directly to the rotary switch, so the harness is pretty much always attached.

This person made his own Rotary interface.
